A scalable, proven solution to reduce school non-attendance and promote learning equity in international education

International schools educate students across countries, cultures, and languages. When students are absent due to illness, medical treatment, relocation, anxiety, or family travel, learning and a sense of belonging can quickly be disrupted.

AV1 is a telepresence robot designed specifically to help schools support absent students, maintain continuity of learning, and preserve social connection until students can return to campus. It keeps students connected to lessons, classmates, and everyday school life when they can’t attend in person – supporting engagement and a smoother return to the classroom.

The robot sits at the student’s desk and follows the daily rhythm of school life, moving between lessons, classrooms, and social moments. Students control AV1 remotely while remaining off-camera, which reduces pressure and supports wellbeing. Teachers continue teaching as usual, as AV1 integrates seamlessly into existing classroom routines.

Why international schools choose AV1

“AV1 is essential for maintaining a student’s sense of belonging. It provides stability, connection, and continuity during a very challenging time.”

Jacobo de la Sierra, Member of the school management team, Deutsche Schule Bilbao

“We even use AV1 on site, for those who struggle with large, busy, sensory overload environments. A pupil can be in a safe space or room within school, and access an AV1 in their regular classroom.”

Eleanor Webber, Lead SENCO and AV1 Lead at The Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust

"We know nothing replaces face-to-face, but the next best option, in my experience, has been these robots. Attendance is key. “

Rory Johnson, Deputy Headteacher at Moulsham High School, Bridge Academy Trust

Perfectly suited for international school environments

International schools choose AV1 because it not only supports continuity during student absence, but also preserves social connection and wellbeing, works across borders and time zones, requires no teacher training or lesson changes and aligns with safeguarding and GDPR requirements.

AV1 is not a replacement for in-person schooling – it is a bridge that supports students until they can return.
