Participate on your own terms
AV1 is the student's eyes, ears and voice in class, on days (s)he can't be physically present at school. The student signals that (s)he wants to speak by letting the top of AV1's head blink. The robot turns 360 degrees in order for the student to see and talk to all of his or hers classmates. If the student doesn't feel like actively participating in class, (s)he makes the top of AV1's head turn blue.

Easier returning to school
It can be difficult returning to school after sickness absence. AV1 corresponds well with this problem. By allowing the child or young adult to be present in class – also during periods of treatment – AV1 can make it easier returning to school even after prolonged periods of absence.
